Patent on Continuous Media System

25 June 2010: Status update. The Continuous Media System patent has been issued as US Patent no. 7,742,504 on June 22, 2010.

8 March 2010: We have received a Notice of Allowance for our Continuous Media System patent application (no. 10/351,461). This is the last step before a US patent is granted. Co-inventors are Roger Zimmermann, Cyrus Shahabi, Kun Fu and Shu-Yuen Dean Yao.

Project: Location-based Services for Social Media Applications

22 January 2010: We have received a grant for a new project entitled Location-based Services in Support of Social Media Applications. The goal is to develop technologies for location-based services (LBS) that provide the foundation for innovative applications to improve people's lives, especially in technologically underserved areas. This project is supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Academic Research Fund (AcRF) Tier-1 FRC grant no. T1 251RES0918. More information can be found on our Research page.


ACM MMSys 2010 Paper Accepted

11 November 2009: A paper authored by Seon Ho Kim, Sakire Arslan Ay, Byunggu Yu and Roger Zimmermann has been accepted to the ACM Multimedia Systems 2010 conference to be held in Scottsdale, Arizona. The paper is entitled "Vector Model in Support of Versatile Georeferenced Video Search". Congratulations to all the authors!
